History

The restaurant, seated in a former farmhouse, derives its name from adjoining naturally formed peat lake. Throughout the years this lake has always had an important function.

In earlier days when the area still contained mainly heath, shepherds lead their sheep through this water to wash them, in order to sheer them later on. Though the shepherds with their flock have disappeared from the scenery long time ago, the lake has always remained. Today it is being used by anglers who can enjoy quietly all the beauty in and around it.

While enjoying a lovely meal in Buffet-Restaurant "de Schaopwas" the view over this lake adds a unique ingredient to every single dish.
